The Lightweights traveled to Princeton’s Lake Carnegie this weekend for a duel with Dartmouth.

Coming off of a successful weekend in Boston, the lightweights were hungry for another sweep. The first race of the day was the 3V/1F.  Racing through a variable gusting cross-headwind, the 3V and 1F took 1st and 2nd, respectively, with Dartmouth crossing the line in 3rd place.  The 3V posted a time of 6:44.3 while the 1F was 4.3 seconds back, with a time of 6:47.4. Dartmouth finished 32 seconds behind the 1F.

Next was the 2V race. Delaware took a quick lead right off the start and continued to open up their margin throughout the race despite worsening conditions. Delaware crossed the line in 6:42.1, 18.6 seconds ahead of Dartmouth.

The final race of the day was the 1V.  As wind continued to increase, the Fightin’ 150’s maintained composure to capture the victory over both Dartmouth and Fordham.  Delaware took the lead from the start and were able to hold off an aggressive Dartmouth boat to the finish.  Delaware finished 2.2 seconds ahead of Dartmouth and 23.8 seconds ahead of Fordham, with a time of 6:31.4. The win in the 1V race secured Delaware’s third program sweep of the 2014 spring season.

The Lightweights will be traveling to Mercer Lake next weekend for the Knecht Cup.  Stay up to date on race results by following @delawarecrew on twitter!
