UDMC Looks Forward to Fall Racing

1 min read

All UDMC crews have been hard at work, logging meters on both the ergometer and the Christina River for the past month now.  With the first fall competition quickly approaching, the team could not be more excited to race.

The Freshman/Novice squads feature a number of high-performing walk-ons to compliment the large numbers of recruited rowers.  This year marks the largest recruiting classes in program history for both the Heavyweight and Lightweight sides.  The Freshman/Novice team will be hitting the water on October 4 for the Head of the Christina Collegiate Exhibition race.

The Varsity crews will be racing for the first time this fall at the Navy Day Regatta on October 10, 2015.  The Varsity Lightweights look to repeat victory in the Collegiate Lightweight 8 event while the Heavyweight 8 is expecting to build off of last year’s 7th-Place finish in the Open/Collegiate 8 race.

Navy Day will serve as a tune-up for the pinnacle of Fall racing, the Head of the Charles, which will take place on October 18.  UDMC will be fielding a total of 5 boats- Two Varsity Lightweight 8’s, a Varsity Heavyweight 8, a Varsity Heavyweight 4, and a Varsity Lightweight 4.
