University of Delaware took its two top varsity boats to Boston for the 49th Annual Head of the Charles Regatta. Delaware rowers faced off against competitors from across the country on the 3 mile course of the Charles River in the largest 2 day rowing event in the world. Coxn’s navigated their crews safely though 6 bridges and a ½ mile turn along the complex course. Both Heavyweight and Lightweight events took place late in the day on Sunday allowing to practice on the course and get settled in Boston.
Varsity Heavyweights raced first in the Collegiate 8+ event against 40 other crews. Their hard work and well planned strategy allowed them to finish 11th, a great result for UDMC Heavies! Lightweights took the course shortly after, finishing 8th out of 17 crews above Navy and Penn, another result to be proud of. These results continue to set UDMC up for a successful fall season, and inspire rowers to keep up their hard work.
Thank you to our heavyweight host family, The Hartfords, and all of the other parents and friends who came down to the course to support our rowers!
