All crews competed at the Navy Day Regatta in Philadelphia, with both the lightweight first
varsity and the heavyweight first varsity competing in the Open/Collegiate Men’s 8+ event. The
heavyweight first varsity placed 6th in a competitive field behind crews from Saint Joe’s, Drexel,
GW, and The Naval Academy. The first varsity lightweight 8+ placed 9th among the same field,
with some very solid rowing from both crews. The Heavyweight team had two more crews
entered in the Men’s Collegiate JV 8+, placing 3rd and 9th among 8’s from GW, Drexel, Penn, and
Temple. The rest of the Lightweight varsity was represented in the Men’s Lightweight 8+ event,
the second varsity finishing 5th , the third varsity finishing 8th , and the fourth varsity finishing 10th
amongst a competitive field featuring Penn and Navy. The freshman crews raced well in the
frosh 8+ event, with the lightweight first and second frosh placing 5th and 9th respectively, and the
heavyweight frosh placing 14th .
UDMC sent two boats to the windy 52 nd Head of the Charles in Boston this fall, both the
heavyweight and lightweight first varsity 8+’s. Improving upon their finish from the fall of 2015,
where they placed 8th , the lightweights placed 6th this season amongst some very competitive
EARC programs. The Heavyweights finished 14th in the Men’s Collegiate 8+. Well rowed in blustery conditions by both
crews. The lightweights look forward to the Princeton Chase, while the heavyweights turn their eyes to the Men’s
Championship 8+ at the Head of the Schuylkill.
