Head of the Schuylkill

UDMC took on the Schuylkill River again at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta, an event which is growing every year.hos heavies 2

Representation was seen in the Freshman 8+ event, Open club 8+ Heavy Camp 8+ and Open 4+. The Freshmen Squad raced three 8’s in the Collegiate Frosh/Novice Event. Delaware’s 1F finished with an impressive 3rd out of 23 boats placing above Drexel’s 1F. The second freshman boat followed 3 places behind the 1F with a rank of 6th, ahead of Penn’s lightweight 2f and Drexel’s 2f, and the third freshman boat place 17th, positing a time within 3 seconds off St. Joes’ 3f. UDMC is proud of their frosh this year as they continue to press on in learning new rowing technique and building strength. Keep it up Frosh! Varsity heavyweights raced their 2v in the Club 8+ event who were able to work their way into 4th by the finish in an event of 25 boats.

Heavyweight 1V also placed 4th in their event, The Championship 8+ ahead of NYAC and West point. Another weekend of great results achieved by our Heavies! Lightweights sent their 3v and 4+ to race at the Schuylkill while their top boats traveled to Princeton. The 3v raced Fordham in the Lightweight champ 8+ and the 4+ placed 13th out of 34 boats, both boats led by cox Katie Coats, thanks for doubling up!

Keep posting those top end times heavies and frosh! Thanks to all the parents and friends who cheered from the tent as we came around that last 1k!
