Fightin’ 150’s continue to show significant speed against Harvard, Georgetown and Dartmouth

1 min read

This past Sunday, the UD Fightin’ 150’s hit the water on Princeton’s Carnegie Lake to take on both Harvard and Georgetown crews. The 2V Lightweight 8 set the tone for the day of racing as they finished 5.2 seconds ahead of Harvard’s 2V and over 17 seconds ahead of Georgetown’s 2V. The 1V Lightweight 8 followed suit as they led the no. 2 ranked* Harvard Varsity Lightweight 8 from wire to wire, finishing 2.7 seconds ahead.

The Freshman 8, 3rd Varsity 8, and Freshman 4 crews rowed competitive races and finished 2nd, 2nd, and 4th, respectively. The Varsity 8 and 2nd Varsity 8 victories mark the first time that any Delaware Varsity crew has beaten a Harvard Varsity crew in a dual race. This monumental and historical day for UDMC was preceded by competitive racing against Dartmouth College in Derby, CT, on Saturday. The Varsity 8 and 3rd Varsity 8 were able to earn victories while the 2V fell just short.

The Delaware Lightweights will not race this weekend but look forward to facing MIT on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia on April 18.
