Hens Wrap Up Spring Break With Some Racing

1 min read

This weekend saw lots of racing among all crews, both lightweight and heavyweight, to wrap up a long and arduous spring break training trip to Wilmington, DE.

The Heavyweight squad traveled to the Occoquan Sprints in Virginia, finishing first in their heat and second in the Grand Final, well rowed. The Junior Varsity 8+ event was a straight final, with the Delaware JV winning by 17 seconds over the field, congratulations to all oarsmen. The Varsity 4+ also raced well in a competitive heat featuring George Mason and Army. The Heavies will be headed to Mercer for the Knecht Cup this weekend, best of luck to all crews!

The Delaware Lightweights, in a whirlwind day of rigging, de-rigging, and re-rigging, raced the Penn 150s on Lake Carnegie in Princeton. Both of the Delaware 5V4+ crews emerged victorious over their counterparts from Penn. The Fourth Varsity 8 also won their race against Penn. The First, Second, and Third Varsity 8s raced well against tough boats from Penn, and ultimately came up short. The Hens will continue to work hard into the upcoming week, looking forward to their upcoming race with Princeton and Dartmouth this weekend.
