Heavyweights Make History at the Head of the Charles

This past weekend, the University of Delaware traveled to Boston to compete in the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta—the premier fall head race. Hens Open the Season at the Navy Day Regatta

The team attended the annual Navy Day Regatta on the Schuylkill River last Saturday and raced against fast crews in this head race. This was the team’s first race of the season and they were excited for Fall racing to have begun. Blue Hens Take on Summer 2015

This summer, many rowers took training to the next level and rowed at various prestigious and storied clubs including Penn AC, Undine, and Vesper on Boathouse Row as well as Riverside on the Charles in Boston. On Saturday, the Delaware Lightweights took on the Engineers of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for some competitive racing on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia. Delaware’s Freshman Lightweight 8 won their race, besting the Delaware 3rd Varsity 8 by 2.7 seconds and MIT 3rd Varsity 8 by 5.6 seconds. Heavyweights Advance 1st and 2nd Varsity Eights to the Grand Final at SIRAS

This past weekend, the Heavyweights competed at the SIRAs (Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association) Regatta in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The Freshman Lightweights raced in the Freshman Novice 8 category and placed 2nd in their Heat in a competitive race falling just short of Trinity.
